Mediation Northern Ireland 
New courses starting at the end of January or early February are the following. 1. Afri: 'Paths to peacemaking' conference, Kildare 
The annual Féile Bríde conference organised by Afri (Action from Ireland) takes place at St Joseph's Academy, Kildare on 25th and 26th January with the title 'Paths to peacemaking'. On Saturday it runs from 10.30 am through to 5.00 pm with evening entertainment (Afro-Celtic Ceilí at the Curragh with De Jimbe). On Sunday it runs from 10.30 am though to 1pm.

Contributors include Iain Atack (new chair of Afri and lecturer in Peace Studies at ISE), Ciaron O'Reilly (Catholic Worker and peace activist), Cathy Kelly (a founder of Voices in the Wilderness working against sanctions on Iraq), Donal O'Kelly (actor and writer), Sr Stanislaus Kennedy (anti-poverty activist, among many other things, well known simply as 'Sr Stan'), Deirdre Ní Chinnéide (musician and psychotherapist), and Besa Berberi (singer).

School day of Non-violence and Peace 
on 30th January 
The School Day of Non-violence and Peace (DENIP), founded by Spanish educator and poet Llorenç Vidal in 1964, is a pioneering, non-state, non-governmental, non official, independent, free and voluntary initiative of Non-violent and Pacifying Education, which is now practised in schools all over the world and in which centres of education, teachers and students of all levels and from all countries are invited to take part. It is observed on January 30 or thereabouts every year, on the anniversary of the death of Mahatma Gandhi. In countries with Southern Hemisphere calendars, it can be observed on March 30 or thereabouts.

Pax Christi Annual Peace Mass 
Irish Pax Christi's annual Peace Mass takes place at 11.30 am on Sunday 26th January at the Capuchin Church, Church Street, Dublin, and the celebrant is PC President, Bishop Raymond Field. Weekly Iraq vigil and petition in Belfast 
The weekly vigil by the Justice Not Terror Coalition continues every Thursday lunchtime from around 12 noon to 1.00 pm beside Tesco's, 2 Royal Avenue, Belfast. Come and help out or just be among the many Belfast people and visitors signing to call for no war on Iraq. The petition is addressed to Tony Blair.
